What is Odyssey of the Mind?

Odyssey of the Mind is an international creative problem solving competition focusing on challenging youth to develop divergent independent thinking skills, while working within the cooperative spirit of a team. Participants present creative solutions to problems within specified parameters, ranging from designing and building vehicles and constructions of balsa wood structures to presentations of team composed plays and music. Through Odyssey of the Mind Programs, students, kindergarten through college, discover how to evaluate ideas, cultivate calculated risk taking and develop vital life skills such as effective communication, salesmanship, brainstorming, and problem solving. These skills provide participants with the ability to meet and greet the challenges of life with confidence and self esteem.
