Coach Training   9:30 - 3:00

Coach Training,   All coaches are urged to attend. Information will be presented through a series of mini workshops. Subjects will include "getting started" and team building, solving the long term problem, style, spontaneous, balsa wood structures and using the web site. New coaches will gain valuable insight into various aspects of the Odyssey program. Veteran coaches will share coaching tips.

Western Region Tournament
7:30 AM to 10:00 AM - Coach check-in will be in the lobby of the building where the team's long-term presentation is scheduled. Teams should check in at least 1 hour prior to their first competition or by 10:00 AM.

Judges must report where and when assigned by their Problem Captain.

If CANCELLATION is warranted for any reason, announcements will be made on KDKA Radio, 1020 AM, on the morning of the Tournament.

Keystone Oaks High School - 1000 Kelton Ave.

From East:
  1. Take the Parkway East (Route 376) toward Pittsburgh, to the Boulevard of the Allies (Liberty Tunnels) exit.
  2. Go across the Liberty Bridge and straight through the Liberty Tunnels.
  3. At the end of the tunnel, follow the signs for Rt. 51 south.
  4. Follow Rt. 51 to Rt. 88 and turn right onto Rt. 88.
  5. At the first traffic light, turn right onto McNielly Road
  6. Stay on McNielly Road. After the first traffic light, the school is about 1.5 miles up the hill on the left side.
From South:
  1. Follow Rt. 19 north to Dormont.
  2. In Dormont, turn right onto Kelton Ave. (across from the post office).
  3. Follow Kelton Ave. to the school.
From North:
  1. Take Rt. 79 south to Parkway, toward Pittsburgh.
  2. Just before the Fort Pitt Tunnels, take the Rt. 51 south exit. Follow Rt. 51 to Rt. 88
  3. Turn right onto Rt. 88
  4. At the first traffic light, turn right onto McNielly Road
  5. Stay on McNielly Road. After the first traffic light, the school is about 1.5 miles up the hill on the left side.

From Interstate 376:
  1. Take Exit 81 from I 376 for Rodi Road (Rt. 791), Penn Hills and follow Rodi Road to the "T" intersection at Frankstown Road
  2. Turn Right onto Frankstown Road and follow to the third traffic light (BP on right, Arby’s across street)
  3. Turn right onto Saltsburg Road and go through the first light. Continue about 1/4 mile and turn right onto Aster

From Pittsburgh and Points off Route 79:
  1. Take I 279 South, follow this road for 11 miles. The road's label changes to US-22 W/ US-30 W /Airport then it becomes PA 60 North.
  2. Take Exit 3 (right lane), PA 60 N Business toward Moon. {DO NOT GO TOWARD THE PITTSBURGH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.}
  3. At the second traffic light turn right onto University Boulevard.
  4. The Middle School is on your right after the Bob Evan's Restaurant.
  5. For the High School:
    1. Continue past the Middle School.
    2. At the second traffic light, turn right on Beaver Grade Road.
    3. Bear right at the stop light and the High School’s entrance is on the right just passed the crest of a hill.
    4. Parking is at a premium, so we encourage busses and large vehicles to park in the nearby K-Mart shopping center. Use the lower part of the lot between McDonald’s and Mr. Tire - (lot # 5 above).
From the Sewickley Bridge:
  1. Turn right onto PA 51 N (University Boulevard).
  2. Pass Robert Morris University on your left.
  3. For the high School:
    1. At the next light, turn left onto Beaver Grade Road.
    2. Bear right at the stop light and the High School’s entrance is on the right just passed the crest of a hill.
    3. Parking is at a premium, so we encourage busses and large vehicles to park in the nearby K-Mart shopping center. Use the lower part of the lot between McDonald’s and Mr. Tire - (lot # 5 above).
  4. For the Middle School:
    1. After the second traffic light and after the crest of the hill.
    2. Turn left into the Middle School.
    3. Parking is at a premium, so we encourage busses and large vehicles to park in the nearby K-Mart shopping center. Use the lower part of the lot between McDonald’s and Mr. Tire - (lot # 5 above).
